Grilled Bagels with Cream Cheese, Tomato and Lox!

This is not a recipe. This is better!



Some people like their bagels plain and some like their bagels toasted. But I like my bagels grilled.

I eat grilled bagels and cream cheese for breakfast, lunch or dinner. In fact, I can eat it any time of the day, even as a late night snack with a nice cup of hot tea!

Cut the bagel in half and spread each side with a thin layer of soft butter.

In a heavy saute pan, over medium heat, place the bagel buttered side down. Grill until golden brown.

While the bagel is still hot, load it up with soft cream cheese. This is where I stop. I can’t wait to bite into the crunchy hot bagel!

Now Mr. Tastebuds continues with layers of fresh tomatoes, thin slices of red sweet onion and topped with lox.

Like I said….

This is better!

    I bet it is better! Grilling with butter – so much better than just buttering it after toasting!

    The diner near my college dorm served bagels grilled like this…used to put the heavy iron on top to make sure it grilled even. Yum! (they also grilled their raisin-bran muffins…wonderful…..)

    Mmm I had a bagel with cream cheese for breakfast today, but not with the lox! It’s snowy and cold enough outside that I could totally do another bagel for lunch though :) May have to go out and weather the storm!

    Now I’ve done a lot of things with bagels but I’ve never thought to grill them. Such a genius idea!

    I used to live in Toronto, right in the Jewish area and their bakeries were to die for! Nothing could beat those light, fluffy, fresh bagels on a Sunday morning. And topped with dill cream cheese and lox… mmm! Really miss having those bakeries just a few doors away from my place.

    As much as I love cooking, I tend to ruin every recipe, ever. But not this time! I am a big time sauce fan and this was actually very good! Thanks for the recipe!
